Baseball Recap: Excelsior Charter Comes Up Short

Excelsior Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 16-4 to the University Prep Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-7 last Tuesday.

ISSAC CASTILLO made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Serrano, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Excelsior Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for University Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Excelsior Charter will head out to face off against Big Bear at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for University Prep, they will welcome Hesperia Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.6 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
