After a string of three wins, Amarillo's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Caprock Longhorns by a score of 5-4. The Sandies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Longhorns earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Madilynn Russell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Cienna Perez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Amarillo's loss dropped their record down to 19-7-1. As for Caprock, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-6-1.

While Amarillo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
