Football Recap: Columbia Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Columbia had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Cartersville Hurricanes, falling 44-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Hurricanes are ranked 19th).

Czar Daniels threw for 169 yards on 15 of 28 attempts. Damarion Davis was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards.

Cartersville can attribute much of their success to Nate Russell, who threw for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Russell a new career-high in passer rating (161.9).

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbia will challenge Carrollton at 7:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Cartersville, they will take on Rockmart at 7:30 p.m. on the 22nd.
