Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Loyola College Prep's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ruston, Loyola College Prep was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Minden Crimson Tide. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Flyers have posted against the Crimson Tide since March 30, 2019.

Cole Pryor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last five games.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Evan Lirette, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Camden Crossno, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Loyola College Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Loyola College Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Minden's record is now 12-11.
