Recap: Farrell Steelers vs. Union Area Scotties
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post 15 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Farrell Steelers proved on Saturday. They walked away with a 58-51 victory over Union Area. Given Farrell's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Union Area is ranked 523rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Farrell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Danny Odem III, who scored 21 points. Juelz Johnson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 11 assists and nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Union Area still got an impressive performance from Lucas Stanley, who scored 31 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stanley has scored all season.
Farrell has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Union Area, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Farrell will head out on the road to face off against Jamestown at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Union Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Avella at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Avella is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
