Basketball Game Preview: Mojave Rattlers vs. Desert Pines Jaguars

The Mojave Rattlers will take on the Desert Pines Jaguars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mojave is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Del Sol on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Mojave was dealt a 68-20 loss at the hands of Del Sol. The Rattlers have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Mojave had strong showings from Jac?Amore Fahie Fahie, who posted seven points and 11 rebounds, and Heaven Thomas, who put up seven points and eight rebounds. Fahie is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Desert Pines was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, falling 71-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Jaguars have suffered since January 30, 2024.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Taveah Oliver and Bray'Ana Miles. Miles had a solid game and earned 13 points. Meanwhile, Oliver did her best for the losing side, putting up 15 points and five steals.

Mojave's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Desert Pines, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Mojave was dealt a bruising 58-18 defeat at the hands of Desert Pines when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Can Mojave avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
