            Basketball Recap: Middletown Middies vs. Princeton Vikings        
        
		
        
        
            Middletown was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight  defeat. They were beaten by the Princeton Vikings 65-23. While losing is never fun, the Middies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings  (they are ranked 373rd, while the Vikings are ranked 38th).

 Middletown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Jamia Jones, who  posted six points and seven  rebounds. Jones is also on a roll when it comes to  blocks, as she's  now  posted two or more in the last five games she's  played.
 Princeton was led to victory by  Mari Gerton and  Erin Thomas.  Gerton  went 10 of 20  en route to 19  points along with six  boards and three  steals, while  Thomas  went 8 for 16  on her way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was  Kali Fortson, who  put up six  points and five  rebounds.
Middletown's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Princeton, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record  this season.
 Middletown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  game,  a  55-16  victory against Mt. Healthy on the 27th. As for Princeton, they also  wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  contest,  a  74-35  win against Colerain on the 27th.
