Softball Game Preview: Johnson Creek Bluejays vs. Poynette Pumas

The Johnson Creek Bluejays are taking a road trip to face off against the Poynette Pumas at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Johnson Creek barely beat Palmyra-Eagle the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bluejays blew past the Panthers 12-2 on Thursday. The Bluejays haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Tori Buglass made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lainey Benz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Molly Altreuter was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Johnson Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Poynette put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Lakeside Lutheran as they made off with a 9-1 win.

Johnson Creek's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.0 runs this season. As for Poynette, their record now sits at 5-0.
