Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Maddox Hunstad and Sammy Oliver Lead Beachside to Victory

Beachside lost to Bartram Trail back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Beachside Barracudas secured a 57-52 W over the Bartram Trail Bears. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Barracudas.

Beachside was led to victory by Sammy Oliver and Maddox Hunstad. Oliver went 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points and three steals, while Hunstad went 7 of 15 en route to 19 points and eight rebounds. Hunstad's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Michael Rocco was another key player, putting up eight points and nine boards.

Bartram Trail's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon Williamson, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 18 points and seven assists. The dominant performance also gave Williamson a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Bennett Michelsen, who made all 5 shots he took to post 11 points and five rebounds.

Beachside has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Bartram Trail, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Beachside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 43-39 victory against Paxon School For Advanced Studies on the 27th. Bartram Trail has also already played their next contest, a 39-37 win against Orange Park on the 27th.
