Soccer Recap: Annandale Comes Up Short

If Annandale was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Justice on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Atoms fell just short of the Lewis Lancers by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for Annandale in their meetings with Lewis: they've now lost four in a row.

Annandale's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1-1 and their overall record down to 4-3-1. As for Lewis, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3-2.

Annandale and Lewis should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Atoms will square off against Edison at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (94 vs. 270). Meanwhile, Lewis (ranked 60th) will meet Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology (ranked 257th) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
