The Johnsburg Central Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Corinth Riverhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Johnsburg Central has struggled recently with 19 defeats in a row, while Corinth will arrive with four straight victories.
Johnsburg Central struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (Seton Catholic Central had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Johnsburg Central was dealt a 61-32 defeat at the hands of Seton Catholic Central. Johnsburg Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-12.
Despite the loss, Johnsburg Central saw an underclassman step up: Nick Sauer-Jones scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. Sauer-Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Nate Vanderwarker was another key contributor, scoring three points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Corinth beat Fort Edward 45-39 on Tuesday.
Johnsburg Central dropped their record down to 0-15 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.5 points per game. As for Corinth, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season.
