Football Recap: TEACH Tech Charter Skates Past New Designs Watts with Ease

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but TEACH Tech Charter had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 58-20 win over the New Designs Watts Knights. The Rams' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Kyler Drake continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 128 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something TEACH Tech Charter proved: they limited New Designs Watts to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least eight total tackles, Elijah Brown stood above the rest. He picked up two sacks and made eight total tackles (3.0 for loss). TEACH Tech Charter didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 15.2.

TEACH Tech Charter's defense didn't let Jerimiah May, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Dayvion Kendrick and Brown, who racked up four sacks between them. Kendrick is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. TEACH Tech Charter received some extra help from Jamaar Williams, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

When it comes to explaining why New Designs Watts lost, don't look at De'Andre Garcia. Despite the final result, he picked up 37 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 32 yards. James Garcia got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

The victory (which was TEACH Tech Charter's fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.5 points over those games. As for New Designs Watts, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-6 record.

TEACH Tech Charter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-6 loss against Animo Robinson on the 14th. New Designs Watts does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
