Basketball Recap: St. Charles East Find Success

St. Charles East's tournament run continued when they took on Lane Tech on Thursday. The Fighting Saints secured a 59-55 W over the Champions. That's two games straight that the Fighting Saints have won by exactly four points.

St. Charles East found their leader in sophomore Brooklyn Schilb, who dropped a double-double with 32 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kathlyn Bainbridge, who posted 12 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.

Lane Tech lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ella Bush, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Lucy Mehlis, who scored 11 points and three steals.

St. Charles East now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lane Tech, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, St. Charles East and Glenbrook South will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. As for Lane Tech, they will take on Fremd at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
