Basketball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 34-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Telluride Miners.

Emma Reggiannini went supernova for Telluride, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Reggiannini is now averaging an impressive 2.7 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Pella Ward, who posted no points and six steals.

Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Telluride, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Monticello will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Valley at 2:30 p.m. on January 4th. Telluride also won't see the court for a while: their next matchup is against Ouray at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th.
