Softball Recap: Vinton County Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Vinton County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Huntington Huntsmen. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 3-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Vinton County now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Huntington, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vinton County will face off against Athens at 5:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Huntington, they will take on Zane Trace at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Pioneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.6 runs per game on average), something the Huntsmen will no doubt try to take advantage of.
