Basketball Game Preview: Hayfield Hawks vs. Woodson Cavaliers

Hayfield is on a 26-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Woodson is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. Hayfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Woodson likes a good challenge.

Hayfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past West Potomac 68-66. 68 seems to be a good number for the Hawks as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Woodson won against Robinson on Tuesday with 66 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Woodson took down South County 66-48.

Woodson's win came from a few key players Hayfield will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was William Taylor, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Noah Limbago, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards.

Hayfield is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.6 points over those games. Woodson's victory bumped their record up to 22-4.
