Basketball Recap: Deer Isle-Stonington Takes a Loss

Deer Isle-Stonington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were beaten by the George Stevens Academy Eagles 48-21. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mariners of the 39-17 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Deer Isle-Stonington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for George Stevens Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deer Isle-Stonington will square off against Shead at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for George Stevens Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Bucksport at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bucksport's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so George Stevens Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
