The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Coastal Christian has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while John Paul II Catholic will arrive with three straight wins.
Coastal Christian suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Cape Fear Academy at home and fell 53-21. Coastal Christian has not had much luck with Cape Fear Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
In what's become a running theme this season, John Paul II Catholic gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Arendell Parrott Academy 54-17 on the road. Given John Paul II Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Arendell Parrott Academy is ranked 470th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coastal Christian's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12. As for John Paul II Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
Coastal Christian was dealt a bruising 64-27 defeat at the hands of John Paul II Catholic in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Can Coastal Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
