Basketball Game Preview: Chireno Owls vs. Hemphill Hornets

The Chireno Owls will square off against the Hemphill Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Chireno is headed into Tuesday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-37 heartbreaker at the hands of San Augustine. While the Owls didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 13-8 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Hemphill ended up a good deal behind Shelbyville on Friday and lost 53-38. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1057th, while the Dragons are ranked 276th).

Chireno's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-9. As for Hemphill, they now have a losing record at 12-13.

Chireno didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Hemphill in their previous meeting on January 3rd, but they still walked away with a 42-37 win. Will Chireno repeat their success, or does Hemphill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
