Flag Football Recap: Abby White Key Part of Team Effort in Cougars Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mission Hills, Escondido was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They managed a 12-6 victory over the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 33-24 win the Longhorns walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Escondido got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abby White out in front who threw for 234 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 72.2% of her passes. That's the most passing yards White has posted since back in August. Another receiver making a difference was Mia Diaz, who picked up 60 receiving yards and two scores.

Escondido is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Rancho Buena Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Coming up, Escondido will be playing in front of their home fans against San Marcos at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' defense has only allowed 13.3 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Rancho Buena Vista, they will head out on the road to square off against Madison at 5:25 p.m. on Monday.
