Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Fordham Prep

While Fordham Prep's win against Iona Prep wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Gaels 3-2 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by just one run.

Jacob Siper looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Fordham Prep saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bobby Hefner, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was Hefner's first of the season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Fordham Prep, bringing their record up to 8-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Iona Prep, they moved to 7-4-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fordham Prep will host St. Joseph's Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Iona Prep, they will square off against Bishop Hendricken at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gaels 3.1, the Hawks 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
