Baseball Recap: Shoemaker Find Success

Shoemaker took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Copperas Cove, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bulldawgs 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since March 6th.

Damian Montanez-Figueroa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Shoemaker is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joephillip Guzman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

The victory got Shoemaker back to even at 9-9-2. As for Copperas Cove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12-1.

Shoemaker will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldawgs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
