Basketball Recap: Nottoway Comes Up Short

Nottoway lost against Prince Edward County back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Nottoway Cougars took a blow against the Prince Edward County Eagles, falling 64-24. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while the Eagles are ranked 97th).

Nottoway lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Promise Tracy, who posted nine points. Tracy is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games she's played. Jayden Banks was another key player, putting up two points and three steals.

Nottoway dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Prince Edward County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Prince Edward County beat Nottoway by a score of 59-7 on Friday.
