Softball Recap: Fort Lauderdale Comes Up Short

Fort Lauderdale and Monarch squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Fort Lauderdale had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 6-4. The Flying L's were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Quinn McFadden made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Tannar Keenan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Fort Lauderdale and nudges their season record down to 12-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Monarch, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10.

Fort Lauderdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monarch, they will venture away from home to challenge Doral Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Firebirds will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
