Basketball Game Preview: Granite City Warriors vs. Cahokia Comanches

The Granite City Warriors will challenge the Cahokia Comanches at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Granite City's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

Granite City is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Madison 71-37. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Trojans are ranked 532nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cahokia unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against Columbia, falling 71-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Comanches have suffered since December 19, 2025.

Loss or not, Cahokia got some senior leadership from Taven Miller and Corrion Raiford. Miller shot 53% from the field to rack up 19 points, while Raiford dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Miller's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was George Roberts, who posted four points.

Granite City pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points over those games. As for Cahokia, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Granite City might still be hurting after the 67-42 loss they got from Cahokia when the teams last played back in January of 2025. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
