Baseball Recap: Sedgwick County Cougars vs. Maxwell Wildcats

Sedgwick County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of the Maxwell Wildcats by a score of 7-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Sedgwick County of the 14-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Tate Renquist and Josh Kler did some serious damage despite the final result: Renquist scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Kler went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a double. Renquist has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

On Maxwell's side, Isaac Irish was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Jaxon Braithwait was another key contributor, going 2-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI.
