Seguin dropped down to 3-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boerne-Champion Chargers. The Matadors gained 92 more yards on the day, but it was the Chargers that made the best use of them.
Despite the loss, Seguin still got an impressive performance from Corey Dailey, who threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 54 yards and three scores.
As for Boerne-Champion, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.5 points over those games.
Caleb Farias had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 167 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 65 yards.
Seguin and Boerne-Champion will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Matadors see the field they'll take on Pieper at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. As for Boerne-Champion, their break will end when they face New Braunfels at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
