Basketball Game Preview: Beachside Barracudas vs. Ponte Vedra Sharks

Two dominant guards in Morgan Cremen and Jocelyn Hoffmann are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Beachside Barracudas will challenge the Ponte Vedra Sharks on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Beachside is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They breezed by Riverside to the tune of 60-26. Given the Barracudas' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Generals are ranked 343rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cremen and Kendall Kane were among the main playmakers for Beachside as the former went 6 for 11 on her way to 16 points along with eight assists and six steals and the latter went 8 of 17 en route to 20 points and four steals. Cremen's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anni Ament, who posted seven points in addition to 11 rebounds and five steals.

Beachside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Ponte Vedra slipped by ED White 37-36 on Thursday.

Beachside is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Ponte Vedra, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.

Beachside was able to grind out a solid win over Ponte Vedra in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 48-37. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Ponte Vedra's Arden Doherty, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Beachside still be able to contain Doherty? There's only one way to find out.
