Basketball Preview: Sebastian River Sharks vs. Martin County Tigers
Sebastian River is 1-8 against the Tigers since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Sebastian River Sharks will head out on the road to face off against the Martin County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sebastian River entered their tilt with the Pirates with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went Sebastian River's way against the Pirates on Wednesday as the Sharks made off with a 66-46 win.
It was another big night for Andrew Simpson, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Amarion Smith, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Martin County can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They strolled past Lake Wales with points to spare, taking the game 71-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Sebastian River is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. As for Martin County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-16.
Sebastian River took a serious blow against the Tigers in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 90-46. Can Sebastian River avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
