Softball Recap: Bear Lake Gets the Win

Bear Lake proved they can win big last Friday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Marsh Valley Eagles, sneaking past 10-9. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-8 back in March.

Bear Lake let Abby Humpherys and Caleigh Beard run wild. Humpherys scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Beard scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Beard a new career-high in doubles (two). Bentley Price was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Bear Lake is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Marsh Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Looking ahead, Bear Lake will be playing in front of their home fans against West Side at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marsh Valley, they will challenge North Fremont at 11:45 a.m. on Friday.
