Basketball Recap: Madison County Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Madison County entered their tilt with Godby on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Godby Cougars by a score of 48-40. This was a revenge game for the Cowboys: when they faced off against the Cougars back in December of 2024, they had to take a 62-55 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Madison County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jahlaya Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Wilson is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ralsharee Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Madison County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Godby lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aniyah Lewis, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 steals. Kenijah Clayton was another key player, going 7 of 16 on her way to 15 points and four steals.

Madison County pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Godby, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.

Madison County has already played their next match, a 63-43 win against Gadsden County on the 9th. As for Godby, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-6 victory against FAMU DRS on the 14th.
