Softball Recap: Orono Comes Up Short

Orono extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-8 in the process. They came up short against the St. Francis Fighting Saints, falling 6-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 6-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for St. Francis, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

For St. Francis' part, they let Abby Keding and Hailey Ausland run wild. Keding went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Ausland went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Ausland has posted over her last four matches.

Looking ahead, Orono will head out on the road to challenge Zimmerman at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Francis, they will welcome Becker at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
