Basketball Game Preview: Grundy Center Spartans vs. Hudson Pirates

The Grundy Center Spartans will head out to face off against the Hudson Pirates at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Grundy Center has nine straight wins, Hudson has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Grundy Center blew past Sumner-Fredericksburg, posting a 79-43 victory. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-50, which was the final score in Hudson's tilt against South Hardin on Friday.

Grundy Center pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Hudson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Grundy Center came up short against Hudson in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 55-51. Can Grundy Center avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
