Abernathy blew Hale Center out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Hale Center got their revenge. The Antelopes fell just short of the Owls by a score of 8-6. The Antelopes' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Bryer Cook was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Romo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Abernathy's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 13-7. As for Hale Center, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

While Abernathy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
