Football Game Preview: Independence Wildcats vs. North Panola Cougars + How To Watch

Independence and North Panola are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Independence will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Last Friday, Independence blew past Holly Springs, posting a 47-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three contests by 25 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 39 points the game before, North Panola was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They came up short against Coahoma County, falling 36-12. The Cougars were down 30-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Although North Panola took the loss, they still got scores from Rod'Kevian Holliday and Stetson Rayford.

Independence pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points over those games. As for North Panola, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Independence strolled past North Panola in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 14-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
