With a playoff win on the line, First Colonial rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Kempsville Chiefs, sneaking past 2-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-3 back in April.

First Colonial's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maura Haesler, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for First Colonial and bumps their season record up to 16-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Kempsville, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

Coming up, First Colonial will take on Kellam at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Kempsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
