Baseball Game Preview: Swett Warriors vs. St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins

For the second straight game, Swett will face off against St. Patrick-St. Vincent. The Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Swett is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

Swett proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past St. Patrick-St. Vincent 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since February 27th.

Michael Golden made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, James Gibson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Swett is 9-0-1 when Gibson posts two or more runs, but 1-4-1 otherwise.

Swett pushed their record up to 10-4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-4.
