Basketball Recap: Peyton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Thomas Maclaren School

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Peyton). They took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging an 81-54 win over the Thomas MacLaren School Highlanders. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted against the Highlanders since January 11, 2019.

Peyton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Perry, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten assists. With that strong performance, Perry is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Gatti, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points.

Perry wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Peyton was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Thomas MacLaren School lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lance Mathews, who posted four points along with 13 boards, seven assists, and five blocks. Mathews has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Stokes, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points.

Peyton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Thomas MacLaren School, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
