Basketball Recap: Ottawa Hills Takes a Loss

After flying high against Edon last Saturday, Ottawa Hills came back down to earth. The Ottawa Hills Green Bears were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 49-48 to the Evergreen Vikings. The defeat continues a trend for the Green Bears in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost five in a row.

Ottawa Hills' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendell Skiver, who went 8 of 16 en route to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Skiver's afternoon made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Berenzweig, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Ottawa Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Evergreen, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Ottawa Hills will square off against Toledo Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Evergreen has already played their next match (against Archbold), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
