Softball Recap: Maple Mountain's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Maple Mountain dropped their record down to 14-6 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 4-0 to the Salem Hills Skyhawks. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Golden Eagles who fell 17-15 when the teams previously met back in May of 2024.

Gracie Jensen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

As for Salem Hills, they pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

On Salem Hills' side, Maple Mountain's batters probably weren't too happy with Jocile Norman, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up zero walks).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emmery Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Naihlee Simpson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Looking ahead, Maple Mountain will challenge Timpview at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles are facing the Thunderbirds at the right time seeing as the Thunderbirds are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Salem Hills, they will face off against Wasatch at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
