Basketball Recap: De'angelo Hall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Olympic over Ardrey Kell

Olympic was the 71-54 winner over Ardrey Kell when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Olympic Trojans fell just short of the Ardrey Kell Knights by a score of 49-47 on Tuesday. The Trojans have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was De'Angelo Hall, who posted six points along with 11 steals and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Hall a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maurice Sabb, who went 7-for-10 to rack up 15 points.

Ardrey Kell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brett Freeman led the charge by putting up 17 points and six assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Freeman has scored at least a third of Ardrey Kell's points. Another player making a difference was Braden Suggs, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 14 points.

Olympic's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Ardrey Kell, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which somehow still isn't as good as their 18-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Olympic will take on Berry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Olympic has insisted on making their last three contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests. As for Ardrey Kell, they will square off against Palisades at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Palisades has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
