Recap: Springwood Wildcats vs. Lee-Scott Academy Warriors
The Springwood Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a rough 77-56 defeat at the hands of Lee-Scott Academy. While losing is never fun, Springwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Lee-Scott Academy is ranked 31st).
Despite the loss, Springwood still got an impressive performance from Micah Thomas, who scored 18 points along with four steals. The game was Thomas' 15th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was CJ Johnson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Leading Lee-Scott Academy to victory were Haiden Harper and Parker Wright. Harper scored 27 points along with five rebounds, while Wright dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Harper has scored at least 25% of Lee-Scott Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of William Liles, who scored nine points.
Springwood's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4. As for Lee-Scott Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springwood won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Abbeville Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th. Abbeville Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 504 points over their last eight games. As for Lee-Scott Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Edgewood Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Edgewood Academy has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
