Basketball Recap: Bard Takes a Loss

Bard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 83-47 loss at the hands of the Newark Collegiate Academy Panthers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Falcons came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 25th in District of Columbia, while the Panthers are ranked 90th in New Jersey).

Bard's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andre Wright, who went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points. Kevin Phifer was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Bard's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Newark Collegiate Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.

Bard wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-42 win against Bard Early College on the 19th. Newark Collegiate Academy has also already played their next matchup, a 68-55 loss against Payne Tech on the 21st.
