Baseball Recap: Wallkill Takes a Loss

Wallkill lost against Marlboro Central back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Panthers fell 6-3 to the Dukes. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Cody Mallon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, Wallkill saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Franklin, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The Panthers are 2-1 when Franklin posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Ryan Mayer was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Wallkill's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Marlboro Central, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Coming up, Wallkill will take on Washingtonville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wizards have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Marlboro Central, they will face off against Rondout Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dukes are facing the Ganders at the right time seeing as the Ganders are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
