Chagrin Valley - Valley recap November 5, 2013

Cardinal moved up to 493 from 540 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Chagrin Valley - Valley. The Huskies climbed the ranks as a result of beating Berkshire 40-2.

Kirtland extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Independence, 63-9. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.

Justin McClain threw for 154 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was 14-20 with 0 interceptions.

Sam Skiljan was a passing and rushing force as Kirtland topped the Blue Devils. He completed 6 passes for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 75 yards. Skiljan's favorite target this week was Matthew Finkler, who caught 3 passes for 81 yards.

Finkler was the best receiver in the league this week as Tiger (Phillip) Laverde's team topped Independence. Finkler tallied 3 receptions for 81 yards. Sam Kukura helped Kirtland's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 61 yards.

Kirtland's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Hornets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Skiljan has thrown for 1,152 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Finkler has 18 catches for 407 yards.

The Hornets took down Ben Kucia's team 63-9 last week, the largest margin of any game. Skiljan ran for 75 yards in the win.
