Basketball Recap: Community Takes a Loss

Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cannon County Lions. While losing is never fun, the Vikings/Viqueens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Lions are ranked 47th).

When it comes to explaining why Community lost, don't look at Anna Haskins. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Haskins has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa White, who posted six points and 11 boards.

Community's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Cannon County, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community has already played their next match (against Grundy County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cannon County will take on Franklin County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
