Recap: Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers vs. South Park Burros
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cotopaxi, the Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They escaped with a win against South Park by the margin of a single free throw, 38-37. For Cripple Creek-Victor, this counts as revenge for the 71-15 loss South Park walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Cripple Creek-Victor can attribute much of their success to Damian Reyes, who scored 16 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Reyes has scored at least 25% of Cripple Creek-Victor's points. Chase Lohmeier was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
The win got Cripple Creek-Victor back to even at 1-1. As for South Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Cripple Creek-Victor will head out on the road to face off against Moffat at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Moffat focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday. As for South Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Grand at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
