Basketball Recap: Eastern Alamance Takes a Loss

If Eastern Alamance was feeling good fresh off their 77-36 takedown of South Granville last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell 55-49 to the Northern Guilford Nighthawks on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 77-54 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Eastern Alamance lost, don't look at Makayla Scott. Despite the final result, she went 7-for-16 en route to 18 points and seven boards. Scott continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Aliya Trollinger was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight rebounds.

It was another big night for Leena McField, who shot 53% from the field to rack up 29 points and eight steals for Northern Guilford. McField's big performance that evening made it 15 games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Anaya Pearley, who posted ten points and six boards.

Eastern Alamance suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Northern Guilford, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.

Eastern Alamance didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-28 win against Orange on the 12th. As for Northern Guilford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-62 victory against North Surry on the 12th.
