Baseball Recap: Port St. Joe Has No Trouble Against Marathon

Port St. Joe won against Wakulla Christian School last Thursday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks put the hurt on the Marathon Dolphins with a sharp 15-1 win. The Tiger Sharks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by nine runs or more this season.

Jacob Hensley looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eli Harris, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Eli Godwin, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Port St. Joe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marathon only posted a batting average of .188.

The victory made it two in a row for Port St. Joe and bumps their season record up to 8-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Marathon, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Port St. Joe will have a chance to go back-to-back against Marathon: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
