Basketball Game Preview: KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers vs. DMLK Panthers

The KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the DMLK Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, KIPP Denver Collegiate came up short against Arrupe Jesuit and fell 42-30. The White Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

KIPP Denver Collegiate's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Shaila Ramirez, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and four blocks, and Nicole Ricalday, who earned eight points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Ramirez has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Yarely Gomez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask DMLK). Everything went their way against DSST: Green Valley Ranch on Friday as DMLK made off with a 53-30 win. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.

DMLK's win came from a few key players KIPP Denver Collegiate will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tay Hugley, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Ashley Rodriguez, who had 14 points.

The victory made it two in a row for DMLK and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for KIPP Denver Collegiate, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
